Transgender and Gender Expansive People

This day-long course will provide various educational experiences for people to learn more about what it means to be Transgender and/or *Gender Expansive, including ways agencies and individuals can be more inclusive in their day-to-day work by exploring language usage, terminology, and best practices when working with Transgender and/or Gender Expansive individuals, especially in behavioral and mental health settings.

*Gender Expansive is an inclusive term that may describe various gender identities, as well as identities in flux.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Gia Drew

Gia Drew is an LGBTQ Advocate, Speaker, Educator, and Writer. Originally from Boston, Gia has called Maine home for the past sixteen years. Currently she works as Program Director at EqualityMaine advocating on behalf the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Queer/Questioning) community across the state. Read more…

Alex Roan

Alex Roan, LCPC, Ph.D., is a clinical mental health counselor in private practice in Portland and he also teaches at Southern Maine Community College. He is the founder of MaineTransNet, an organization that provides support and resources to members of the trans community and their families throughout Maine.

    CCSME Provider Unit is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Northeast Multi-State Division (NE-MSD), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

    CCSME is a pre-approved sponsor and provider of Professional Education Activities for Psychologists.

    CCSME is a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc.

  • Certificate of attendance for 6 contact hours for social workers, licensed clinical professional counselors, and other professionals.

Certificates will be emailed to participants upon completion of an online course evaluation. No partial credit will be given.
