Bio | Helen Harberts, MA, JD

Helen Harberts has worked in drug court systems since 1994 as
both a prosecutor and a Chief Probation Officer. She drafted the protocol
and implemented the Butte County Drug Court (Adult and Juvenile), the
DUI Court, the Mentally Ill Offenders Court, the Domestic Violence Court,
and the Comprehensive Treatment Court in Butte County, California. She
also has worked on curriculum development, special issues committees, the
COPS Methamphetamine Project, and various other projects for NADCP,
NDCI, NCDC, and many other criminal justice organizations.
She regularly teaches drug testing, community supervision, Incentives and
Sanctions, Legal Updates, Confidentiality, Cannabis Updates, juvenile brain
development and methamphetamine specific classes across the United
States. Ms. Harberts is the author of the Hazelden Community Corrections “Recovery Life Skills
Manual,” and the Community Supervision chapter in the NDCI “Drug Court Judicial Benchbook”
and in “Drug Court” (Springer Publications). She has appeared in various online training courses
regarding drug courts. She retired in 2011 after 25 years in public service.
