This online video course provides an overview of the role and expectations for behavioral health clinicians with regard to treatment, and social and medical transition planning for adults. Several healthcare disparities faced by Transgender and Gender Expansive individuals – including medical, mental health, and substance use will be identified. The course is framed within the most current guidelines for treatment outlined by leading organizations in the field, including the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and The Endocrine Society.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the role and expectations of behavioral health clinicians when supporting social transition.
  • Discuss the role and expectations of behavioral health clinicians when planning for and treating medical transition.
  • Describe health disparities among trans and gender expansive adults.

After watching a video presentation by Brandy Brown, LCSW, you will be required to take a short quiz. Upon receiving a grade of 80% or higher, you will be directed to a course evaluation. Once you have completed the evaluation, you will be able to download a .pdf certificate to get your course credit.

  • 1.5 CONTACT HOUR for social workers, licensed professional clinical counselors, psychologists, continuing health education specialists, and  behavioral healthcare workers.
