RESCHEDULED to August 23, 2024 | 12:00-1:00pm
Virtual via Zoom

Description:
Clinicians who work with people with substance use disorders often cite systemic frustrations and compassion fatigue as primary obstacles for staying authentically engaged in their work. Additionally, there is little recognition of the unique grieving process experienced by clinicians who lose patients. This session focuses on proactively addressing burnout and building compassion resilience so we can continue to leverage our expertise to serve the communities of Maine.

Learning Objectives:
• Identify some causes and consequences of compassion fatigue and burnout as experienced by clinicians who work with people with substance use disorders (SUD).
• Discuss the unique grieving process experienced by clinicians when they lose a patient.
• Develop strategies to navigate systemic challenges and manage the complex emotions experienced by clinicians who work with people with SUD.
