Dr. Fiellin, the Founding Director of the play2PREVENT Lab and Professor of Biomedical Data Science at Dartmouth and Faculty Member at the Center for Technology and Behavioral Health will present on the work of the play2PREVENT Lab where she and her team develop, evaluate and implement digital health games targeting key adolescent outcomes with a focus on substance misuse and mental health. She will describe their research methods which include full engagement with youth in every step of the development and evaluation process as well demonstrating the impact through rigorous research of their digital health games on health outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the Role of Digital Health Games: Participants will learn how digital health games, like those developed by the play2PREVENT Lab, serve as effective tools for addressing adolescent mental health and substance use challenges by engaging youth where they are and providing scalable, cost-effective interventions.
- Explore the Impact of User-Centric Game Development: Attendees will examine the importance of involving adolescents in the design and development process of health-focused video games, ensuring relevance and effectiveness through iterative feedback and collaboration.
- Evaluate the Efficacy of Evidence-Based Interventions: Learners will gain insight into the methodologies and outcomes of randomized controlled trials conducted to assess the impact of digital health games on health behaviors, such as opioid misuse prevention and mental health promotion among high-risk adolescents.
