- High Dose Buprenorphine Induction is a relatively novel method of buprenorphine initiation with new, emerging research supporting its effectiveness. This presentation is meant to serve as an introduction to the technique and includes important topics for consideration including selecting the appropriate patient, setting, and dosing schedule/regimen. Additionally, the presentation will review up-to-date research on the topic and touch upon the specific pharmacologic properties of buprenorphine as they relate to high dose inductions.

- Compare and contrast high dose inductions with other methods of buprenorphine initiation
- Understand how to select the appropriate patient and setting for high dose inductions

Presenters:
Nicholas Gallagher, DO, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained addiction medicine specialist who treats patients with substance use disorders at MaineGeneral Addiction Medicine, where he also serves as medical director. Before joining MaineGeneral Medical Center’s active staff in August 2020, Dr. Gallagher practiced as an emergency medicine physician at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI while completing his fellowship in addiction medicine at Brown University in Providence, RI.
