Presenter: Jane M Liebschutz, MD, MPH, FACP
Dr. Jane M. Liebschutz, MD, MPH, FACP, is a Professor of Medicine, Chief of General Internal Medicine, and the Falk Professor in Ambulatory Care at the University of Pittsburgh, where she also directs the Center for Research on Health Care. Her extensive research focuses on the prevention and treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) within medical settings, utilizing implementation science, clinical trials, and health services research. She serves as the Principal Investigator for the Appalachian Node of the NIDA Clinical Trials Network and leads multiple federally funded initiatives, including the STOP, Co-CARE, and PROMISE trials. Additionally, she founded and chairs Bridging Connections in Addiction Research (BCAR), a multidisciplinary network dedicated to collaborative addiction research and training.
In her clinical and educational roles, Dr. Liebschutz manages a primary care patient panel, provides long-term substance use disorder management, and serves as a consultant for the inpatient Substance Treatment and Recovery Service (STARS), which she established. Her educational efforts focus on expanding clinical and research skills in substance use, mentoring junior faculty through the NIDA-funded PittCATS program, and directing the Seminar On Addiction Research (SOAR). A graduate of Yale University, Harvard Medical School, and the Boston University School of Public Health, she has been recognized nationally for her work, receiving the AMERSA Anderson Spickard, Jr. Excellence in Mentorship Award in 2023.
