Dan is a psychotherapist serving the mid-coast Maine area, in private practice and as a part-time employee of Islands Community Medical Services on Vinalhaven Island.  He received his Masters degree in Social Work from University of Maine in 2011.  After a first career designing large-scale computer systems and leading project implementation teams, Dan began his second career  providing in-home behavioral health services to children with autism.  He has provided in-home family counseling, worked in schools, day treatment programs, group treatment homes for children and young adults, and began his private practice providing individual and group counseling for people in recovery from opioid use disorder.  He has extensive experience working with families, children, older adolescents, adults, elders, and couples.  He has served the fishing community for four years.  Dan uses an approach emphasizing skills and tools, and draws heavily from CBT, DBT, internal management of thoughts and emotions, self-awareness, and the practice of presence.  Dan enjoys working on his century-old farmhouse and hosted his daughter’s wedding there last Fall.  He enjoys caring for his small pack of rescue animals, especially his semi-feral Black-Mouth Cur who had no human contact for the first four months of her life.
