Learn how to establish a welcoming approach to discussing substance use with youth and families who are experiencing mental health challenges. Participants will learn specific skills and techniques for how to engage in collaborative discussions about substance use within which the youth and/or family can be guided to make better decisions. 2. Developing specific skills and example “scripts” for addressing substance use challenges, including determining whether the person or family member has a problem, their stage of change, their strengths and skills, and their next steps.
