Combining his 15 years of experience teaching creative writing and his work as a certified mindfulness trainer, Joseph guides his audience through a facilitated workshop that will seem more like a gift than work. Participants will explore different art-based mindfulness exercises they can immediately incorporate into their current practice. In addition to learning new exercises, participants will learn how to adapt current practices to fit more effectively inside our ever-busy lives.

Joseph Green is a father, motivational speaker, educator, trainer, professional storyteller, award-winning spoken word poet, and a person in long-term recovery.
In his prevention and wellness work with high school-aged youth, Joseph had designed and facilitated interactive workshops to create original poetry and short stories on the effects of substance abuse, mental health, and addiction on their lives. Joseph has provided opportunities for youth to share their accounts with policymakers at the White House for the US Office of National Drug Control Policy and the US Department of Education. As Program Manager at the Mentor Foundation USA, Joseph led the effort to revamp the interactive drug prevention youth rally known as “Shattering the Myths” and created the nationwide youth empowerment campaign “Living the Example.”
Joseph’s life story and work are featured in media outlets such as Youth Today, UpWorthy, PBS NewsHour, NPR, and many more. He has recently keynoted or presented at the 2017 American Society of Addiction Medicine, Talks @ Google, the University of Baltimore, 2016/18 California Statewide Conference on Substance Use Disorder, 2017 Utah Fall Substance Abuse Conference, and Wisconsin Voices for Recovery Rally for Recovery. Most recently, Joseph’s work with youth was featured in the award-winning documentary “Tipping the Pain Scale” by acclaimed producer and director Greg Williams and Jeff Reily.
In his current role as CEO of LMSvoice, an educational and mindfulness consulting company, Joseph has had the honor to helm and partner with many programs making a positive change in schools and communities around the country. In Wisconsin, Joseph has designed and implemented a youth empowerment program and a comprehensive training program for adults working in youth development. In his native region of Washington DC, he leads a team of local youth leaders in creating a mental health literacy program, The Healing Root DC. In Maryland, along with acclaimed children’s theatre Imagination Stage, Joseph works with incarcerated youth to highlight their stories and help end mass incarceration.
