Description:

During the talk participants will be taught about the history and efficacy of pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV and learn the various strategies we have for providing this prophylaxis to various patients. Financial resources for PrEP and PEP as well as vaccines for various sexually transmitted infection will also be reviewed. Interaction will be encouraged and there will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions in an open forum.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the body of evidence supporting PrEP and PEP for HIV,
  2. Know the various medication regimens available for HIV PEP and PrEP and how to monitor patients on prophylaxis,
  3. Identify resources for coverage of PEP and PrEP for underinsured and uninsured patients,
  4. Identify vaccine preventable sexually transmitted infections
