Strengthening Maine’s Trauma-Informed Learning Community: Workforce Preparedness

In response to the mass casualty event in Lewiston late last year, CCSME has partnered with NAMI Maine and AdCare Maine with funding from SAMHSA to provide free trainings on evidence-based practices for trauma and grief treatment. These trainings are intended for clinicians treating victims or person affected by the events in Lewiston, or similar clients.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Post-Disaster Distress

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Post-disaster Distress (CBT-PD) is a time-limited, transdiagnostic approach to treating problematic symptoms following exposure to a disaster that can threaten functioning, well-being, and overall quality of life.

Written Exposure Therapy

July 18 & 19, 2024 | 8:30-11:30am | Virtual

Written Exposure Therapy is a manualized exposure-based psychotherapy for diagnosed and subclinical PTSD.

Multidimensional Grief Therapy

August 21-22, 2024 | 8:30am-4:00pm | virtual

Multidimensional Grief Therapy is an intervention designed to reduce unhelpful grief reactions, promote adaptive grief reactions, and help bereaved children and adolescents lead healthy, happy, productive lives.

Cognitive Processing Therapy

CPT addresses PTSD and trauma-related mental health struggles by challenging and correcting disrupted beliefs.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

September 30 – October 2, 2024 | 8:30am-5:00pm | Maine Resiliency Center, Lewiston, ME

Prolonged exposure teaches individuals to gradually approach their trauma-related memories, feelings and situations through psychoeducation and storytelling.

Components for Enhancing Career Experience and Reducing Trauma

CE-CERT is a trauma-informed and skills-based model for improving wellness, and reducing secondary traumatic stress and burn-out among helping professionals. Agency cohorts encourage to attend together.

Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Trauma in Schools

December 19-20 2024 | 8:30am-2:30pm | NAMI HQ, HAllowell, ME

CBITS is a school-based, group and individual intervention designed to reduce symptoms of PTSD, depression, and behavioral problems, and to improve functioning, grades and attendance, peer and parent support, and coping skills.

Skills for Psychological Recovery – Train the Trainer

December 5-6 2024 | 8am-4pm | Maine Resiliency Center, Lewiston, ME

The Skills for Psychological Recovery (SPR) “Train the Trainer” program equips participants with the confidence, skills, and tools necessary to effectively teach and implement SPR in their own communities. SPR is an evidence-informed intervention designed to foster long-term adaptive coping in disaster survivors experiencing moderate distress.

Stress First Aid – Train the Trainer

december 9-10, 2024 | 8am-5pm | Hilton Garden, freeport, ME

This SFA training of trainers will be offered as a two-day training of trainer event, with provision for teach-back, interactive group discussion and case examples, and a focus on how SFA intervention components can be adapted and applied to work with teams in many settings.

Targeted Violence and Terrorism: Strengths, Needs, and Risks Assessment & Management Tool (TSAM)

The TSAM offers mental health professionals a collaborative, client-centered approach to assessment and management of risk, assessing strengths and needs in addition to risks and providing a structured process for stabilization, treatment planning, and re-evaluation of risk at every client contact.

StrengthenME is a Maine DHHS program offering free stress management and resiliency resources to promote the health and well-being of all Mainers. Knowing there is no health without mental health, StrengthenME resources aim to inspire hope and resilience. Services are 100% anonymous, low-barrier, and community-focused. 

Maine Resiliency Center

The Maine Resiliency Center was established in the wake of the mass casualty event in Lewiston on October 25, 2023. We provide free community connection, support, and resources to those who are impacted by this tragedy.
