    1. The Campaign seeks to implement a set of evidence-based Clinician-specific interventions to improve the treatment of opioid use disorders (OUDs) within Maine’s medical community. Led by Maine’s physician and other clinician leadership, partnered with the State and other key stakeholders. All clinicians have a role to play, and we appreciate all efforts of identifying and treating SUD/OUD and support recovery already underway.

Learning Objectives:

    1. Identify Evidence-Based Interventions for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) Treatment
      Participants will learn about a set of evidence-based clinician-specific interventions designed to improve the treatment of opioid use disorders (OUDs) across various healthcare settings in Maine.
    2. Tailor OUD Treatment Approaches for Diverse Healthcare Settings
      Participants will understand how to adapt and implement OUD treatment strategies in different settings, including hospital emergency departments, primary care practices, behavioral health clinics, pharmacies, correctional facilities, and more.
    3. Promote Cross-Sector Collaboration to Enhance OUD Care and Support
      Participants will explore how collaboration across healthcare sectors can strengthen support systems for individuals affected by OUDs in Maine, aiming for a unified approach to improve patient care and outcomes.

 

Presenters:

Christy McGlynn, MBA

Christy McGlynn joined the Maine Medical Association- Center for Quality Improvement as a Project Manager with the 1000 lives campaign in January of 2025. She grew up in Lewiston, Maine and later settled in Jay, Maine to start her family. Christy received her associate’s degree as a Medical Assistant in 2007 and while working in a primary care provider’s office, she obtained her BA in Business Administration specializing in health care. After changing her career from Medical Assistant to Office Manager, she continued her education and obtained her MBA in 2018 and followed her passion of working with people in recovery at an outpatient opioid addiction recovery company as a Regional Director.

Christy is very passionate about the Maine community that has been hit by the opioid epidemic and looks forward to her work with Maine Medical Associations – Center for Quality Improvement as she works to help both our Maine health care systems, and our communities come together to help people become the healthiest version of themselves that they can be.

Continuing Medical Education:

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Hanley Center for Health Leadership and Education and CCSME. The Hanley Center for Health Leadership and Education is accredited by the Maine Medical Association Committee on Continuing Medical Education and Accreditation to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Hanley Center for Health Leadership and Education designates this regularly scheduled series for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

*Nurses and Nurse Practitioners will be awarded a certificate of participation with a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™.
