Description:
This session will provide an overview of Contingency Management (CM) and its role in addressing the growing problem of stimulant use disorder. The evidence for CM will be reviewed, and relevant regulatory issues will be discussed. Our implementation process for CM at MaineHealth will be reviewed, and initial data regarding our results and the patient experience will be discussed.

Presenters:
Leah Bauer, MD
Leah Bauer, MD is Medical Director of Behavioral Health at MaineHealth’s Mid Coast-Parkview Hospital in Brunswick, Maine. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine, and is board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Bauer graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and went on to residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital adult psychiatry program, where she served as administrative chief resident. She has past clinical experience in general adult outpatient psychiatry and college mental health. In her current clinical role at Mid Coast Hospital, Dr. Bauer leads a team of providers and behavioral health clinicians overseeing a robust MOUD program, provides psychiatric consultation and management across the continuum of addiction care, and particularly with pregnant and post-partum women. She has worked collaboratively across systems of care in clinical and administrative capacities to develop innovative programs including a low barrier MOUD program, a novel primary care integration model, and one of the first Emergency Department buprenorphine initiation programs in the nation. She serves on the State of Maine’s Clinical Opioid Advisory Council. Dr. Bauer has presented on issues relating to psychiatry and addiction medicine at local and national levels. In addition to her work in addiction medicine and psychiatry, she enjoys playing music and being outdoors in Maine with her family.
Christine Wyman, LCSW, LADC, CCS
Christine is a clinical social worker with an extensive background working with adults who struggle with serious and persistent mental illness and addiction disorders. Her clinical work includes crisis intervention, therapy for adults with psychosis, and substance use disorder counseling. Currently Christine is a Clinical Director at MaineHealth Behavioral Health’s Comprehensive Addiction Psychiatry Services in Brunswick, formerly known as Mid Coast Hospital’s Addiction Resource Center. In this role, Christine continues to do clinical work while also overseeing the delivery of acute ambulatory services for addiction and psychiatric partial hospitalization programs.
