Description:
This course will examine evidence-based tools for risk and lethality assessment in domestic violence cases and explore appropriate risk management. It will include an opportunity for participants to discuss the application of these tools to their work.

Objectives:
• Examine evidence-based tools for risk and lethality assessment in domestic violence cases
• Explore how these tools are used in Maine and their application to participants’ work
• Learn to apply appropriate risk management

About the Presenter

Faye Luppi
As a national consultant, Faye Luppi is a certified ODARA trainer and provides training and policy development on risk assessment in domestic violence cases. She graduated from the University of Maine School of Law in 1985, followed by a clerkship with the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. She worked as a prosecutor for several years, and in private practice, before opening her own consulting firm. She has served as a senior planner for the Maine State Planning Office on projects involving children and families, and as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maine School of Law. From 1999 to 2022, she directed the Violence Intervention Partnership, a coordinated community response to domestic violence in Cumberland County. She worked with the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence to implement domestic violence risk assessment statewide in Maine, and teach the risk assessment classes at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. She serves on the boards of the Tree Street Youth Center and Justice for Women. She has also provided training in Russia and Brazil on risk assessment and effective community responses to domestic violence.
