Description:
Join us for a virtual three-day virtual workshop about the Community Reinforcement Approach to Family Training (CRAFT). CRAFT is a system for helping friends and family members change the way that they interact with a loved one with a substance use disorder. CRAFT teaches family members how to stay connected, increase communication, and effectively encourage their loved one towards treatment, while taking care of themselves in the process. Unlike family therapy which would include the loved one, this approach is just for the friends and family members. This training is for professional who wish to use CRAFT in their practice. Objectives:
1. Name the three primary goals of CRAFT: well-being of the CSO, reduced substance use of the IP, and treatment engagement of the IP
2. Identify the procedures of CRAFT
3. Demonstrate use of the CRAFT communication training
4. Demonstrate use of Functional Analysis of addictive behavior
5. Describe how to implement natural consequences and distinguish from punishments
6. Describe how to implement CRAFT rewards procedure
7. Understand how to implement CRAFT problem solving procedure with individual clients or groups
8. Understand how to use the Happiness Scale and Goals in CRAFT sessions
9. Identify common safety issues that may arise in families with a SUD
10. Understand how to implement the CRAFT treatment engagement procedure
11. Describe the steps required for optional CRAFT certification

Presenter:

woman in yellow shirt looking at cameraLara Okoloko, LICSW is a licensed clinical social worker in Seattle, Washington. Lara is passionate about working with loving dedicated families who are feeling scared, disconnected and depleted because someone they love has a substance use or mental health problem. She works with families to engage their connection with one another to come out on the other side of recovery together. Using a respectful, collaborative, solution-focused approach, Lara is also certified in the evidence-based practice of Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT). In addition to her therapy practice, Lara teaches in the MSW program at the University of Washington and provides supervision to clinical social workers working towards their license.

14 contact hours for CHES. CCSME is a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc.

This training is intended for Maine residents or those who work in Maine. Attendees are required to be present for 100% of all training sessions, complete asynchronous materials, and complete the course evaluation in order to receive a certificate. Partial credit will not be awarded.
